Timișoara - 27 iunie 2017 -

The second edition of ABSL Timişoara Business Mixer took place on Wednesday, June 21, in the Vienna Hall of the Timişoara Hotel.

The session was opened by Ciprian Dan, Vice President of the ABSL Association of Business Service Leaders Romania and Location Head at Wipro Technologies and moderated by Liliana Bizau, ABSL Senior Account Manager.

During the opening speech, Ciprian Dan welcomed the participants from ABSL member companies, emphasizing the importance of supporting positive change in education through the involvement of the private sector. “We believe that the Business Services Master program, created by ABSL member companies in collaboration with the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, can prepare the workforce that our industry needs and can ensure sustainable growth. This is why we are determined to offer it to the students from Timisoara, with the support of the  West University".

The main topic was: “How to streamline the correct workforce training for the Romanian business industry?” This was, in the current context, a topic of great interest for Timisoara, a city that is growing in the business services industry.

At the conference, ABSL came up with a question that appears naturally in the current context, "What can be done to reduce the gap between supply and demand?", the speakers learning that project-based learning and interactive learning is one of the most suitable solutions.

ABSL supports companies in launching new business directions, promotes local consumption of technology, supports the development of Romanian business and promotes active learning through projects and practical experience in companies.

Valerica Dragomir – ANIS Executive Director showed that according to a recent ANIS study:

“Unfortunately, Romania is a weak consumer of technology on all levels, including the public administration and the private sector. Romania is facing a shortage of specialized people in all areas, but especially in the IT area. Thus, four up to six positions out of ten remain unoccupied within a company due to the lack of trained workforce. Also, there is a strong need for specialists both in the business services industry and in the development of Software and IT.”

The conference ended with 4 thematic workshops, interactive discussion sessions between speakers and participants. During these sessions, other topics were also debated: current legal framework for internship programs and discovering new career paths for students; efficient project-based learning; professional trajectories for students, adaptability and future education; ABSL Business Services Master Program. ABSL in collaboration with the member companies managed to outline a plan regarding amendments to the internship-related legislation, which is now under public debate.

ABSL will continue to be actively involved in supporting education programs by extending the Business Services Master program to other university centers in Romania. Also, ABSL will try to influence the legislation so that changes in content and learning methodology to be adopted quickly and with real and beneficial effects in the quality of graduate training and their integration into the labor market.

Also other speakers present Wednesday in Timisoara were: Ciprian Dan - Location Lead – Wipro Technologies; Claudiu Botoc - Vice Dean - Faculty of Economics and Business Administration West University of Timisoara; George Didoiu – Associate Director – Colliers International; Mihaela Robu – Business Development Manager - ACCA South-Eastern Europe; Teodora Todoran – Head Training Function - Wipro Limited; Valerica Dragomir – Executive Director – Employers’ Association of the Software and Services Industry.
